M&G Group expand PET plant in Ipojuca (Brazil)

The world's biggest single-reactor PET plant is to get bigger. The M&G Group is to expand its 450,000 tonnes plant at Ipojuca in Brazil to 650,000 tonnes over the next 12 - 15 months.

The Ipojuca plant uses M&G's proprietary technologies such as FlexPET to achieve large scale, economically viable barrier-enhanced PET production and EasyUp, a viscosity upgrading process.

Enlarging the plant takes M&G ahead of demand. It estimates that Brazil's PET market will only reach 650,000 tonnes/year in 2012 or 2013.
