Closed Loop third PET reprocessing plant in the UK
The PETrecycling.cz assessment based on R&D up-to-day results is, that it should be made clear, that all beverage containers, e.g. PET bottles, ALU cans and glass bottles, that are commercially imported into Czech Republic or sold here should be included in return systems with deposits - to encourage the consumers to take the bottles back

Closed Loop Recycling has already set its sights on a third plastics reprocessing facility in the UK, after breaking ground on its second facility in North Wales.

 Closed Loop managing director Chris Dow told Packaging News there were three to four sites under consideration and that he was looking to announce the chosen location "before the end of the year".

Dow said that plastics recycling, particularly PET, was in a good position and blasted media reports of a recycling crisis as ignorant and incorrect. "It feels as if we're now back to October 2008 levels," he said.

The £12m Deeside plant, which is scheduled to open at the end of the year, has already sold some 65% of its output to existing customers of the Dagenham facility, as well as a couple of new ones.

The plant will be able to process more than 50,000 tonnes of plastic each year and will create 50 jobs in the area.

Dow said: "Deeside is a good location as it is really close to major conurbations such as Merseyside and Greater Manchester."
