My closing statement read:
"There is only one real effective and incentive method to encourage
environmentally sound collecting of beverage one-way containers and it is
deposit in combination with High-Tech R&D resulted Reverse Vending
Machines! |

Essex-based recycling
vending specialist Reverse Vending Corporation has installed Lancashire's
first reverse vending recycling machine at Blackpool and The Fylde College
in a bid to encourage students and staff to recycle more of their used
plastic bottles and cans.
| |
|
| The machine collects,
compacts and stores used beverage containers and issues a
"deposit reward" voucher with a face value of 5
pence for each unit recycled.
The vouchers can be redeemed in the
new Grads Café Canteen in the Central Hub at the college, which is an
associated college of Lancaster University.
The installation of the reverse
vending machine is the latest initiative to come out of the college's
new University Centre, which became the first building in Blackpool to
be awarded pre-construction BREEAM Excellence for its sustainable
design and environmental performance.
Ruth Paisley, vice principal
of resources and planning said: "We're really pleased to be leading
the way environmentally with innovative new ideas and a commitment to
reducing our impact on the environment. |
