The plant will process bales of used PET bottles, extruding them into high quality pellets. The bottles will be collected from bins set out for used consumer bottles in the greater Paris area, Starlinger spokesperson Janet Pagitsch told European Plastics News. The recovered pellets will be turned into food-contact grade rPET granulate, she added. Most of the recycled material will be purchased by companies producing preforms for new bottles. Starlinger says it will provide the French firm with a recoSTAR PET 165 iV+ HC recycling line and two viscoSTAR 120 solid stating reactors. The machinery will help FRP boost its output by 15,000 tonnes to 40,000 tonnes per annum, says Starlinger, although the firm refused to reveal how much the machinery cost. The two companies first struck a deal in 2008, when FRP bought a recoSTAR PET and two vicoSTAR lines. “This follow up order from FPR is a further testimony to the fact that Starlinger recycling technology has firmly established itself among the top players in the PET recycling field,” said Starlinger managing partner Angelika Huemer in a statement. France Plastique Recyclage was set up two years ago by the Paprec Group and Sita, the waste management subsidiary of Suez Environnement.
