Plastic Technologies forms company to recycle PET

A company has been formed to market a system that can convert post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate into food-grade resin.

PTI Recycling Systems LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Plastic Technologies Inc. of Holland, Ohio, will offer the compact, modular system. The technology can recycle PET into resin for blow molding, injection molding and thermoforming applications. The system will produce Phoenix Technologies´, Plastic Technologies´ sister company, proprietary LNO resin.

The base unit will produce 10 million pounds of recycled PET per year. An add-on module can double the capacity. The technology is ideal for companies that want to incorporate commercial recycled PET production into their facilities, said Steve Hawkswork, who will head PTI Recycling Systems.
