The program has established a partnership with Veolia Environmental Services in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. According to Matthew Tucker, president of RecycleBank, the program will initially service around 2,800 households on a trial scheme. The program is slated to run for three months and is targeting green waste such as grass clippings, small hedge trimmings, small branches and twigs, weeds, prunings, flowers and leaves. While the programs in Windsor and Maidenhead are the first in Europe, Tucker says that the company is in discussions with other local authorities to bring RecycleBank into communities throughout the UK. "Any council with commingled recycling should be in active conversations with RecycleBank so that we can jointly reward their residents for recycling and waste diversion. Our plan in the UK is to grow and expand service to as many homes as possible, with the best possible rewards scheme and customer care, keeping metric tons of materials out of landfill and rewarding householders along the way," Tucker adds.
