Bratislava – An American company PLASTIPAK will build a plant for recycling of  PET bottles and polyethylene in an industrial area KECHNEC in the East of Slovakia. In the first stage
0.5 billion should be invested and 100 people should be employed.

PLASTIPAK will do without the state support at the beginning. However they will negotiate about it as soon as possible. “I appreciate that we will negotiate about investment encouragement when the first stage of building of the plant is finished” said the ministry of economy Pavol Rusok.

The investors want to start with the building within 3 months. “The construction should last 6 months” said vice - president of PLASTIPAK Frank Pollock. “The plant will be able to work up material from separated waste collection and from used bottles as well.” he continued. The yearly capacity will be 14 000 tons. “We are prepared to double this amount in the further stages of the investment”, mentioned Pollock. The plant will recycle the plastics for several kinds of products, for example for yarns which are being used in the automobile industry. The main interest of PLASTIPAK will be to get raw material of the highest quality usable in the food industry for the production of packing.

They should have enough of material in spite of the fact that the collection of plastic bottles is still not advanced.  If not, PLASTIPAK plans to import them from the surrounding states. “Our interest is to make Slovakia to leader in this field”, said Pollock.

The PET material is already recycled by the firm SLEDGE Kollarovo in the Slovakia. Slovenský hodváb has the project for recycling line as well.

Who is PLASTIPAK Packing Inc – an American company specialized in a production of plastic containers. It reaches a year turnover of billion dollars. The other main field of PLASTIPAK is recycling of PET and HDPE materials. It is the second major company in the USA in the recycling. Two recycling plants in Brazil ensure year turnover 100 mil. dollars. A plant in Czech Republic focuses on production of plastic bottles and containers.
