ecoSave technology from EREMA

Erema, a plastics recycling machinery maker based in Austria, says its new ecoSave technology can help its users reduce energy consumption by up to 10 percent.

"In order to increase the energy efficiency within the plastic recycling process, we'll use drives with increased effectiveness (high efficiency motors), while an improved insulation of the extruder helps reduce thermal radiation," says company spokesperson Werner Hentscholek.

Erema has also optmised the existing heating and cooling system of Erema machines for further energy savings, he told European Plastics News.

On average, users will reduce energy consumption by 10%, says the company. For example, ecoSave can lead to savings of around 370,000 kWh and 230 tons of CO2 on an Erema system with production capacity of about 1,500 tonnes per annum.

"And some customers are able to save even more money, due to CO2 reduction policies or CO2 tickets," says Hentscholek.

All Erema systems will be equipped with ecoSave technology from next year.
