Instead, they should request fast moving consumer goods manufacturers to come up with a sound business plan for the collection of recyclable household waste such, that it meets local economic, social and cultural needs. It is so much easier to do things right in the first place, instead of having to repair a dysfunctional collection system."

Following the success of its PET bottle for Bacardi Breezer, drinks manufacturer Bacardi has extended the use of PET to a second of its Flavoured Alcoholic Beverages (FABs), the rum-based Rigo brand.

Amcor PET Packaging, who supply the Bacardi Breezer bottle, are now supplying a custom-designed 350ml AmGuard multi-layer PET bottle for Rigo.

The bottle, which offers a shelf life of 9 to 12 months, is produced at Amcor’s Centre of Excellence in Brecht, Belgium and is supplied to the Bacardi plant near Hamburg in Germany.

The PET bottle represents an extension of the successful Rigo brand - with an eye-catching design that replicates the original glass bottle - and provides additional usage opportunities for the product among young outgoing consumers who may often drink it at parties, outdoors, or by the poolside. In such environments PET’s durability and practicality are vital benefits.
