The PETrecycling.cz assessment based on R&D up-to-day results is, that it should be made clear, that all beverage containers, e.g. PET bottles, ALU cans and glass bottles, that are commercially imported into Czech Republic or sold here should be included in return systems with deposits - to encourage the consumers to take the bottles back

The French bottled water market reportedly registered a 6.6% decline in sales by volume to 5.7 billion litres and a 4.0% drop by value to €1.7 million for 2007. Three quarters of the losses have been attributed to the poor summer weather during the year.


In France, the single serve packaged water market has been hit also by competition from tap water, concerns over the environmental impact of packaging and less conviction among consumers about the benefits of mineral and spring water.

Evian, Perrier and Cristaline are some of the big bottled water players in France

Nestlé Waters holds a 35.1% share of sales through hypermarkets and supermarkets by value, down 0.5% year on year. Danone Eaux France increased its share marginally to 29.4%, up 0.1%.

Neptune took third place with a 15% share of the total, representing a moderate 0.5% rise. Own label brands represent 14% of the total, whilst other brands accounted for the remaining 6.5%.

By volume, still natural waters represented 4.7 billion litres, while sparkling natural waters account for 838 million litres and flavoured waters take the remaining 134 million litres. Hypermarkets account for over half of the total sales by value, with 52%, ahead of supermarkets with 32.6%, hard discounters with 10.5% and other channels the remaining 4.9%.
