Wilfred Hansel
Location: COP-15 Meetings in
Copenhagen Executive Director of PlasticsEurope, Wilfred Hansel, talks about the potential behind plastics. He points out that the Boeing Dreamliner is now made from fifty percent plastics, reducing its weight, with consequent reduction of energy consumption and emissions. He discusses the ratio for energy savings from the plastics’ perspective and urges for ambitious targets from Copenhagen. The plastics industry added its voice to those discussing climate change in Copenhagen in December, unveiling the preliminary conclusions of the most definitive study to date on the environmental impact of plastics and its applications. The study provides the clearest picture yet of the CO2 emissions of plastics and their role in fighting climate change. During an interview with the Climate Change TV channel during the COP 15 summit, Wilfried Haensel, urged for ambitious targets from Copenhagen and argued that plastics can play a crucial role in contributing to reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions throughout their life cycle use.
